The winter season of the Ellington Farmers’, has one remaining market on Saturday on March 14th from 2-4 pm at the Indian Valley Family YMCA. There will be a free program and demonstration beginning at 2:30 on starting seedlings for your summer garden by Container Crazy CT . The market will then take a 7 week break as farmers scour seed catalogs and start their seedlings for summer crops. The summer market kicks off on May 9th from 9-12 in Arbor Park, with the ever-popular Barnyard Babies theme and continues rain or shine through October 17th.

Plans for the summer market are well underway. An exciting lineup of themes and musical entertainment has been scheduled. The market is proud to be able to continue matching SNAP and Senior Farmers’ Market and W.I.C. Nutrition Program vouchers distributed by the Dept. of Agriculture to low income seniors and women receiving W.I.C. benefits. These programs are possible thanks to the generous donations from local businesses through the Market Partner Program. Over $10,000 was distributed to low income families in 2019.

The Kids Power of Produce Club, which empowers kids to make healthy food choices, will kick off on June 13th and continue through Sept. 5th. Kids can participate in food and farm-based activities, sample fresh produce and receive a $2 token to purchase fresh produce at the market.
