ELLINGTON, CT — A former member of the Ellington Board of Education has been unanimously chosen by Democrats from the 57th General Assembly District, representing Ellington and East Windsor, as their candidate for the seat soon to be vacated by longtime state Rep. Christopher Davis.

A virtual convention among district Democrats endorsed Dr. Jaime S. Foster as the candidate to replace Taylor Biniarz, who had been tapped to run for the seat but decided to withdraw her candidacy to focus on activism.

In her acceptance speech, Foster thanked the Democratic Town Committees in both communities for their support and guidance, and stated her primary focuses as an elected official will include advocating for the well-being of children, supporting seniors, promoting community resilience to allow communities to brace for and more nimbly recover from a situation like the coronavirus pandemic, and bolstering local agriculture.
