(Dianne Trueb)

Start your holiday weekend by browsing the Ellington Farmers' Market's Gardening Grows the Spirit Day from 9-12 in Arbor Park, Main ST. Highlights of the morning include expert gardening advice from Master Composters who will teach you how to turn your garbage into compost for your gardens. Ellington Agway gardening experts will guide you through the many products available to have a successful garden this season. You'll find loads of locally grown vegetable and flower plants including a wide variety of heirloom tomato plants. Kids can plant a tomato seedling and a vegetable or flower seed to take home and watch grow. Forty vendors will be attending the market with everything from locally raised meats, seafood and dairy to baked goods, specialty foods and artisan wares. Dr. Uke and the Glastonbury Ukulele Band will be providing the musical entertainment. Bring a chair and join the sing along. A complete list of vendors can be found on the market website at www.ellingtonfarmersmarket.com
