Great Lineup Of Summer Family Fun At Ellington Farmers' Market
Blueberry Festival, Zucchini 500 Drag Race, Edible Animal Contest and Youth Market Day are just a few up the upcoming events at the market
The Ellington Farmers' Market has an exciting summer lineup of themes beginning with a Blueberry Festival on Saturday July 20th from 9-12 in Arbor Park. Fresh blueberry shortcake by LuAnn's Bakery will be served. Local blueberries from area farms will be available along with blueberry products including a wide variety of jams, pies, muffins and other baked goods.
The signature market event,the Zucchini 500 Drag Race, is scheduled for July 27th. Young and old are invited to race their zucchini cars down the 20 foot track in this double elimination soapbox derby style contest. The race track is 6.5 inches wide with 2 inch sides. No gas, battery, electric or wind-up powered motors of any kind can be attached to the car. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers along with a prize for the “Most Nutritious” which is determined by the number of produce parts on the car. Registration begins at 9:00 and the race at 10:30. This popular event is small town entertainment at its best, laughter guaranteed!
An Edible Animal Contest will be held on August 3rd. Bring an animal created from fruits, vegetable and anything edible to the market at 9:00. Customers will vote throughout the morning for their favorite. Prizes will be awarded to the top three.

Area youth growers and entrepreneurs are invited to join the Ellington Farmers’ Market to display and sell items that they have grown or made with minimum adult help on August 10th. Youth vendors are required to submit an application and provide their own table, 10 x 10 tent, and displays.
