Monticello Replica In Somers Sells At Auction
The home was built by the Friendly's founder.

SOMERS, CT - Tuesday night's sale of a replica of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello home was, for all intents and purposes, friendly.
The home sold at a cocktail auction for $2.125 million, listing agent Sherri Milkie of William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty said Wednesday morning.
She said it was purchased by a "local family" and that family plans to use is as "a full-time, primary residence," complete with horses.

Though the house cost $7.7 million to build in 2014, Milkie called the sale "the perfect scenario for the Blakes and the buyers."
The house measures 9,948 square-feet and features five suites with their own bathrooms plus four other half-baths. It has never been lived in, but has hosted several local functions.

The home was built by S. Prestley Blake, the co-founder of the Massachusetts-based Friendly's restaurant chain, in honor of his 100th birthday.
Blake is a huge Jefferson fan.

Milkie said the name of the family would be released at the closing, anticipated for between June 10 and June 15.
