More Accolades And Honors For Ellington, Somers College Students

ELLINGTON/SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern Connecticut State University's theatre students and faculty recently attended a virtual version of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), where they presented their work, attended workshops, watched productions, listened to keynote speakers and attended an award ceremony. Among the participants was Samuel Oravits, a sophomore from Ellington majoring in Theatre. Oravits was recognized for being a Tech Trivia Team host for the Eastern 2020 Tech Olympics. The Tech Olympics are a series of timed technology-based challenges.
• Five Eastern Connecticut State University students created a user-friendly website to help individuals schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Among the students is junior Jonathan Shooner of Somers, who served as the code reviewer. Shooner majors in Computer Science and Business Information Systems.

Purchase College, Purchase NY

• Trevor Burch of Ellington has been named to Purchase College's Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester. Burch is studying Theatre and Performance. To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 for Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs and 3.75 for Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music Performance programs. They must take a minimum of 12 credits.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• The University of Hartford congratulates the students who have been named to the President's Honors List for fall 2020. The President's Honors List is made up of an extremely select group of students who earned a grade point average of 3.75 or higher in the semester. Local honorees are Marley Binkowski, Annieke Cieply, Erica Clarke, Nicholas Desrocher, William Grant, Victoria Pepitone and Theresa Ryan, all of Ellington, and Sarah Uyar of Somers.
• The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following students from Ellington and Somers have been named to the Dean's List for fall 2020. • Rachel Feenstra of Ellington was named to the Dean's List at the University of Maine for the fall 2020 semester.

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg VA

• Emma E. Babiec of Ellington, a sophomore majoring in marketing in the Pamplin College of Business, is among the Virginia Tech students named to the Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester.
