Oakridge Dairy Begins Home Delivery of Dairy Product in Ellington
Local and fresh dairy: milk, eggs, yogurt, cheese and butter delivered to your home or business, just like the good old days!
Oakridge Dairy in Ellington, one of New England’s largest dairy farms, has launched an ambitious fresh dairy home-delivery service called The Modern Milkman. They have formed a partnership with other local farms to provide this unique service to the community. “We as farmers, believe our community deserves our products to be fresh from the farm at the highest quality” says Seth Bahler, whose family has operated the farm since the 1890s.
The Modern Milkman is a subscription-based box of fresh, local dairy products delivered to customers’ doorsteps each week in an insulated package that includes glass-bottled milk, fresh eggs, a rotating variety of yogurts including skyr and Greek with seasonal flavors, an artisan cheese of the week and farm fresh butter. Customers can choose a full or half share and can customize and make changes to their box, or put a temporary hold on their delivery. They have also formed a Food Partnership Program with Hockanum Valley Food Pantry that will enable customers to donate boxes of dairy products to local families in need.
After completing a pilot program over the last several months, the company’s website is operational and deliveries have begun for customers with the Ellington zip code of 06029. Surrounding towns will be added to the delivery routes in early Spring, and until then shoppers who are not yet on the delivery route can register and place orders on the website and pick them up at the farm, located at 80 Meadowbrook Road, Ellington. 860-375-2968.
