Peach Festival Sat. Aug. 22nd 9-12 at Ellington Farmers' Market
Enjoy peach shortcake, discover new ways to use peaches with Chef Chris Avtges, and browse 40 vendors bringing you local and fresh!
Welcome to our annual Peach Festival this Saturday from 9 - Noon as we celebrate lovely golden, juicy, ripe New England peaches fresh off the vine, and everything under the sun that you can make with peaches! The market will be serving fresh peach shortcake and many vendors will have peach-themed offerings. Come and enjoy as we move past the dog days toward those last precious lazy days of summer. Bring your reusable bags and baskets to take home veggies and fruits while they are at the peak of freshness and availability at the market.
Discover the savory side of peaches with cooking demonstrations by “Chopped” chef Chris Avtges beginning at 10:AM in the big gazebo.
Music this week by John Roots and Frank Proto
This duo is inspired by country singers like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams Sr. and play mandolin, banjo and dobro along with acoustic guitar. They also perform the folk songs of John Prine, Dave Mallett, and Bill Staines among others. Their personalities, fine vocals and great acoustic guitars will lure you into sitting under the trees in Arbor Park and relaxing to the music on a summer morning.
