Picture Ellington - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from Ellington's past, and how that site appears today.

ELLINGTON, CT — Our initial foray of the new year into Ellington history, highlighting businesses from the town's past and what those locations look like today, brings us back to a fascinating picture book entitled Images of America: Ellington. The book, compiled by Lynn Kloter Fahy for the Ellington Historical Society, was first published in 2005, and contains 128 pages of amazing photos and stories of the small town formerly known as "the Great Marsh."
This photo of property at the corner of Somers and Meadowbrook roads was taken in 1904. According to Ellington land records, the structure was built in 1820. Pictured are Gertrude, Clara and Flora Tuttle, whose dad Frank bought the house in 1898.
For many years, Limberger Trailer Sales occupied the site. Here is a more contemporary view, taken in Nov. 2019, courtesy of Google Maps (sorry, they apparently took the picture looking directly into the sun).
