SOMERS, CT — Our periodic look at Somers history brings us back to the amazing photo book, Images of America: Somers, compiled in 2001 by Jeanne Kenyon DeBell for the Somers Historical Society. On page 50 is the old Methodist church, which dates back to 1834.

The building moved several times during the 1800s, including its final loction at what is now 604 Main St. It closed by 1900, but was purchased in 1914 by Mrs. Ernest Fuller. She restored it as a community hall, and named it Piedmont Hall after her home.

Over the past century, the building has been used for numerous activities, including a summer theater and a public library. It is now a community hall once again, hosting dozens of events each year.
