Picture Somers - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from Somers history, and how that site appears today.

SOMERS, CT — Our periodic look at Somers history today comes from the pages of a 1995 application to have the Somersville Historic District placed on the National Register of Historic Places. This photo from the early 1990s shows businesses at 111 and 115 Main St.
The picture shows the L & R Appliance Co., which prominently featured sales and service of Maytag appliances. According to the application, this property had been known as the Delaney-McMullen Store in the late 19th century.
Stop & Go Service Center is on the right edge of the photo. It originated around 1920 as a gas station, and was remodeled into a service center around 1970, according to the application.
