Picture Somers - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from Somers history, and how that site appears today.

SOMERS, CT — Our periodic look at Somers history brings us back to the amazing photo book, Images of America: Somers, compiled in 2001 by Jeanne Kenyon DeBell for the Somers Historical Society. On page 4 is an 1885 look at the center of town.
On the far left is the Somers Inn, which served as a stop for stagecoaches. The Somers Congregational Church is in the middle, and just beyond the tree is a horse trough.
Things have changed considerably in 126 years, as evidenced by the photo below from Google Maps. It was taken in late 2019, when construction of the Henny Penny gas station and convenience store had just begun.
