Restaurant In Somers Closes Its Doors
T Maria's Restaurant in Somersville has closed after five years on Route 190.

SOMERSVILLE, CT — The coronavirus pandemic, which has reached the 9-month mark, has apparently claimed another victim in the restaurant business, as T Maria's in Somersville has closed its doors.
All windows at 106 Main Street, normally covered with signs for beer and lunch specials and help wanted, are bare. The A-frame signs normally perched near the curb on Route 190, including its trademark "$5 Lunch" sign, are stacked against a railing near the door.
Owner George Mavroudis could not be reached Wednesday, and a phone call to the restaurant went unanswered. A neighboring business owner said she saw three trucks at the restaurant Tuesday, hauling away equipment.

A customer who requested anonymity told Patch he spoke to Mavroudis recently, and was told business was so poor that he was shutting down.
Mavroudis, a native of the Greek island of Rhodes, opened the restaurant in 2015, and named it after his mother and daughter. The restaurant had received a number of favorable reviews from customers during its 5-year existence, on sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor.
