Samantha Cosman is the winner of the Name the Piglet Contest sponsored by the Ellington Farmers' Market with her entry of the name Samson. Samson beat out the second place name, Hamlet, by over 50 votes. Oreo, Ernesto, and Studly P. Merriweather were also finalist but came in a distant third, fourth and fifth. Samantha waged a very successful Facebook campaign asking for help from friends and family in her quest to name the piglet Samson. She will receive a $25 gift certificate to the market, and more importantly, the honor of naming this cute little swine. Congratulations Samantha, well done!
There is more fun to be had at the market this week at the All's Wool that Ends Wool Fiber Festival. A sheep shearing demonstration will take place at 10:00 and you can try your hand at soap and needle felting. You can also see and feel a full alpaca fleece and view a spinning demo. Baby Colored Angora Goats, Angora Rabbits and Alpacas will be our guest this week. Raw fiber, yarns and finished products will be available for purchase.
As always you will find great food, entertainment, neighbors and friends at the market 9-12. Local and Fresh...Our Community at Its Best
