Scarecrow Contest to Be Conducted In Somers

Judging will run for two weeks beginning Oct. 12; an award ceremony will take place on Oct. 26.

SOMERS, CT — Somers residents, businesses and organizations are invited to participate in a town-wide scarecrow contest during October, conducted by the Somers Cultural Commission.

Scarecrows must be handmade; store-bought scarecrows and decorated houses will not be judged. Categories for judging will include funniest, scariest, traditional, cutest and most original.

There is no charge to enter the contest. Entry forms may be downloaded here, and must be received by Thursday, Oct. 3 via email at pinney151@hotmail.com, or delivered or mailed to the town clerk's office at 600 Main Street.

Scarecrows must be completed and in place at the address indicated on the entry form by Saturday, Oct. 12. Judging will begin on that date, and an award ceremony will take place Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Piedmont Hall, 604 Main Street.
