Scarecrow Contest Canceled By Somers Cultural Commission
The second annual contest has been canceled due to several factors, according to a commission member.
SOMERS, CT — A pair of mitigating factors have necessitated the cancellation of the second Somers Cultural Commission Scarecrow Contest.
The continuing coronavirus pandemic, coupled with the current shortage of members on the commission, led to the cancellation of the contest, according to a Facebook post by commission member Ginny Lockwood.
"We are confident that this will all be behind us next year so that we can plan ahead for our 2021 show in the fall," Lockwood wrote. "We're doing the best that we can, and will most definitely work hard to have this popular and fairly new annual event in 2021."
