SOMERS, CT — A motorcycle operator and his passenger sustained serious injuries during a collision between the bike and a sport utility vehicle which closed a portion of Route 190 early Sunday evening.

The crash occurred around 6:35 p.m. in front of Sonny's Place on Main Street. An eastbound 2017 Kia Sportage LX turned left into the amusement center, failing to yield for a westbound 2003 Harley Davidson FXDL. The motorcycle struck the passenger side front door of the SUV, ejecting the operator and passenger, state police said.

Both motorcycle riders were taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. Neither the driver nor passenger in the SUV reported any injuries, police said.
