Somers Buck-Dubiel American Legion Post 101 Elects New Officers
12 Officers to Direct Post Activities
American Legion Post 101 located in Somers, CT, recently had their annual election of Post Officers for the 2018-2019 calendar year. These newly elected leaders will officially take their positions effective July 1st.
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that was chartered and incorporated in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. It is the largest veterans group committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our local communities across the nation. The Legion advocates patriotism, Americanism, honor, promotes strong national security, and continued devotion to service members and veterans from different generations. The Somers post was chartered and incorporated in 1932.
The American Legion raises millions of dollars in donations at the local, state and national levels to assist veterans and their families during times of need and to provide college scholarship opportunities. The Legionnaires are devoted to service, patriotism, volunteerism, and camaraderie.
The Post 101 Officers are David McCaffrey, Commander and Adjutant, Richard Szoka, Senior Vice Commander and Chaplain, Paul Martinello, Junior Vice Commander, Sherri Marquis, Judge Advocate, Charles Woodruff, Finance Officer, Lee Hareld, Sergeant-at-Arms, Douglas Stebbins, Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms, Jacqueline Haas, Historian. Executive Committeemen are Leroy Collins (4-year term), James Radziewicz (3-year term), Normand Guillemette (2-year term), William Quigley (1-year term). Additional officer appointments will be made during the post installation which will take place at the July 26th meeting.

American Legion Post 101 has 350 members on their roster and is still growing. If there are any veterans, guardsmen, reservists, and active service members from the local area who would like to join and participate in making a difference within our local community and nationally please contact the Legion. The Post has meetings every fourth Thursday of each month, year round and meet at Joanna's Banquet facility, 145 Main Street, Somers, CT 06071 at 6:30 pm.
