Somers Cub Scout Leader Earns Prestigious Wood Badge
Webelos Den Leader earns Scouting's highest and most advanced training course.

Somers Cub Scout Pack 83 is proud to announce that Webelos Den Leader Christophe Huestis received his Wood Badge in a ceremony of the Connecticut River Council BSA on December 10, 2019. The Wood Badge is Scouting’s highest and most advanced training course. First created and directed by Lord Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting, in 1919, the Wood Badge course now includes modern leadership theories from well known and respected scholars such as Ken Blanchard, Stephen R. Covey, and Spencer Johnson. The course includes six full days and nights with 18 months of follow-up to complete at least five self created goals. At the conclusion, Wood Badge recipients have studied and practiced vision building, goal setting, communication, inclusiveness, coaching, mentoring, team development, project planning, decision making, problem solving, and servant leadership -- skills and values that are of vital importance in guiding the next generation of Scouts and future adults.
