Champ’s Place Food Pantry services the residents of Somers providing groceries for approximately 61 households per month. Since the pandemic began one year ago, the needs of residents in the community can increase up to 20% in one month. In the past, the food pantry had to limit the amount of grocery items given to each client. With the generosity of community members, food pantry volunteers have been able to shop for a variety of grocery items that were difficult to get from Foodshare, such as toiletries and juice for children. That flexibility allows for the purchase of special dietary foods including items that are gluten free or low in sodium and sugar.

“The generosity of the community has been amazing since the start of the pandemic. We were overwhelmed by receiving this anonymous donation.”- Kathy Moulton, Co-Director of Champ’s Place.
