Town of Ellington Participates in Wreaths Across America
Over 450 Wreaths were Placed on Graves of Veterans Laid to Rest in Ellington Center Cemetary.
Young and old alike gathered at Ellington Cemetery on Saturday, December 15 to honor Ellington's veterans as part of Wreaths Across America, whose mission is to remember, honor and teach in conjunction with similar ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,400 locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad. The Town's celebration was organized by the Ellington Ad Hoc Patriotic Committee and Ellington Volunteer Fire Department, and included music performed by students from the high school. There were about 450 wreaths placed on veterans' graves in the emotional ceremony, thanks to contributions by many, including last-minute donations by two anonymous citizens whose generosity made certain that all veterans who are interred at Ellington Center Cemetery were properly honored in this solemn and heartfelt tribute to those who have served our country and perhaps given their lives in that service.
