Tricky Ellington Intersection to Become 4-Way Stop

A tricky Ellington intersection will be turned into a four-way stop, an official said.

ELLINGTON, CT — A tricky intersection will be turned into a four-way stop on July 19, Ellington Public Works Director Timothy Webb said on Thursday.

Webb said it is the best course of action to slow down traffic and makes thing safer at Abbott and Frog Hollow roads.

Currently, there are stop signs on Abbott, but none on Frog Hollow, Webb said. A not-so-strategically placed fence and "growth beyond the right of way" have created bad sight lines, he added.

Webb said several recent motor vehicle crashes have also spurred the stop sign decision.

Warning signs will be posted alerting drivers of the new four-way stop, he said.
