Veteran Ellington Teacher Hired As Stafford Assistant Principal

ELLINGTON, CT — A 20-year veteran of the Ellington school system will soon be departing to take an assistant principal position in Stafford.

Sara Varga will become assistant principal of Stafford Elementary School effective July 12. She has served the Ellington Public Schools since 2001 as a teacher, numeracy specialist and lead teacher at Windermere Elementary School.

"It has been a pleasure and honor to serve the Ellington Public Schools for the past 20 years," Varga said. "I will hold dear the positive relationships I have formed with the students, families, and staff of the Ellington community. I look forward to this new opportunity as I join Stafford Elementary School as an assistant principal."

Principal Jennifer Hill said, "It’s been my distinct pleasure and honor working with Sara Varga over these last couple of years. She has been an exceptional educator and teacher leader at Windermere and an integral part of the Ellington family. Sara encompasses all of the qualities that Ellington Public Schools fosters within our community and Stafford is fortunate to be in receipt of her services. I am excited for her and her family wishing them nothing but the best."

"Sara will be greatly missed by the Ellington Public School system," Board of Education chair Jennifer Dzen said. "She has been an integral part of our success at the elementary level with her unwavering dedication to students and her whole team approach with staff members."

Varga has resided in Ellington since 2004, along with her sons Matthew and Nicholas.
