Man Charged With Attempted Burglary In Somers: Report

A man is facing several charges after trying to break into a Somers home, state police said.

SOMERS, CT — A 45-year-old Enfield man remained in custody on Tuesday after a Christmas Day incident in Somers. Jeffrey Harbaugh was arrested shortly after the 6:59 p.m. incident on Hall Hill Road, according to a state police report.

He appeared in court the following day and his initial $25,000 bond was reduced to $7,500, records show. He did not post it and is slated for another court appearance on Jan. 22, records show.

According to a police report, Harbaugh tried to get into a woman's home by smashing a window. She fled the home and called police from a neighbor's home. A child was present, state police said.

Harbaugh was charged with:

  • Attempt to commit second-degree burglary
  • Risk of injury to a child
  • Second-degree criminal mischief
  • Interfering with police
  • Second-degree breach of peace
  • Disorderly conduct
