World Champion Quartet Sings in Manchester

Silk City Chorus Brings Two Exciting Quartets to Annual Show

The Silk City Chorus Annual Show will return to Manchester, CT on January 16, 2016. The show will feature the 2015 world champion gold medal-winning a cappella quartet INSTANT CLASSIC. This young foursome surprised the Barbershop Harmony Society with their surprising victory at the 2015 International Convention. It is a special honor for the Silk City Chorus to bring the current world champions to Manchester, CT.

The quartet members, brothers Kyle and Kohl Kitzmiller, David Zimmerman and Theo Hicks have been singing together since 2009. The brothers are known as “barbershop brats” having started in the hobby as middle schoolers. Theo and David are both music teachers, hence the quartet’s ongoing commitment to working with young singers.

The 2016 Annual Show will be taking a comical look at today’s computer technology. The performance by the host Silk City Chorus is titled “ I can count on U”. You will never look at your keyboard in the same way after watching a computer come to life on stage! Who knew that the characters on your keyboard are real personalities not just something for your fingers!

The chorus also continues its tradition of hosting two well-known guest quartets, and this year adds a special twist. Our second guest quartet is “GQ”, a popular quartet of young women who chose their name based on who they are: a “Girls Quartet”. GQ has been singing together since 2011 and the girls have many achievements in that short time. They earned overall second place in the all-comers National Harmony Sweepstakes held in San Francisco, and went on to be named the “Rising Stars” of Sweet Adeline’s International, the largest women’s society of barbershop singers.

Both Instant Classic and GQ work together often to introduce young singers to a lifetime hobby of singing a cappella.
