Apartment Fire Displaces Residents Of Eight Units In Enfield
A fire at the Freshwater Pond Apartments Wednesday afternoon caused damage to at least eight apartment units, according to a fire official.

ENFIELD, CT — At least four people, including two children, have been displaced from their home following a fire in an apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.
The fire at the Freshwater Pond Apartments on Thistle Lane gutted the second floor of a unit, and a total of eight units sustained smoke damage, according to Mark Zarcaro, public information officer for the fire departments of Enfield.
The first firefighters to arrive found heavy smoke and fire conditions on the second floor of one of the units. Initial reports indicated people were trapped; however, firefighters searching the units, confirmed no one was trapped, Thompsonville Chief David Deskis said.

One person was taken to an area hospital from complications from the fire. No firefighters were injured, Deskis said.
Mutual aid was provided by all five town fire departments, assisted by Suffield.

The American Red Cross was contacted to provided housing for residents of the eight units displaced from the fire, Deskis said
