ENFIELD, CT — A car smashed into a utility pole on a Thompsonville street Monday afternoon, snapping the pole in half and necessitating closure of the road for a few hours.
The crash, which took place around 2:13 p.m. on Prospect Street, resulted in no injuries, police said. The operator, Heather Michaud, 28, of 20-A Pleasant St., was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence, operating under suspension and failure to maintain lane, Lt. Bryan Nolan said.
Police Chief Alaric Fox said Prospect Street would be closed between High and South streets for a few hours while the pole is repaired.
