Fatal Motorcycle Crash Claims Life Of Enfield Resident [UPDATE]

ENFIELD, CT — A serious crash involving a motorcycle resulted in the death of its operator, and closed a segment of Route 5 from Brainard Rd. to Manning Rd. for several hours.

Police Chief Alaric Fox said the crash, which took place around 3:14 p.m. on Route 5 near the junction of University Place, involved a car and a motorcycle. Lt. Keith Parent later confirmed the motorcycle operator had died.

The motorcycle, a 2009 Honda CBR 600, was operated by Christopher Panatsas, 23, of Enfield. The car, a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, was driven by 54-year-old Jeffrey Milne of Feeding Hills, Mass., police said.

Panatsas was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Enfield Police Department Traffic Division, with assistance from the Metro Traffic Services Regional Traffic Team. Anyone with information
