ENFIELD, CT — For the 93rd year, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society this weekend will present its annual Italian Festival, the oldest and biggest Italian festival in New England.
Homemade Italian foods, children's rides and family entertainment will be complemented by a host of outstanding musical performances. Local favorites Equinnox and the Savage Brothers will play Friday night, then Saturday will be highlighted by a live concert by Nick Fradiani, the 2015 American Idol winner. Rising country music stars Presley & Taylor will take the stage Sunday.
The festivities begin Thursday night with a night candle prayer street procession, and Sunday opens with a traditional Mass, spoken partly in Italian, at 8:30 a.m., followed by a procession through neighborhood streets with the statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
