Enfield Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash Near Somers Line [UPDATED]

The crash took place just before 7:30 p.m. on Somers Rd. in Enfield, just before the Somers town line.

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield resident was killed when his motorcycle left the roadway and crashed on Somers Rd. near the Somers town line Saturday night.

The crash took place around 7:26 p.m. on the connector road which is frequently used by motorists from the Taylor Rd. area in Enfield into Somersville. Sgt. Jamie Yott confirmed one person was pronounced dead at the scene; he was later identified as 50-year-old Gerald Reed, who was operating a 2018 Harley Davidson Flhxs.

Enfield auxiliary police closed Somers Rd. at the junction of Moody Rd., while Somers and Ellington police diverted traffic down Collins Rd. and Nutmeg Dr.

The crash remains under investigation by the Enfield Police Department Traffic Division, with assistance from the Metro Traffic Services Regional Traffic Team. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Officer Kevin Ragion at 860-763-6400 ext. 1385.
