Former Enfield Singer/Songwriter Cracks the Billboard Charts

The latest release from the 2001 Enfield High School valedictorian entered the Billboard Heatseekers chart this week.

NEW YORK, NY — Fifteen years ago, Cassandra Kubinski graduated at the top of her class from Enfield High School, earning valedictorian honors. This week, she took a huge step toward reaching the top of her current profession - the music industry.

The petite singer/songwriter, who currently calls New York City home, has scored with her fifth release, "Onward." The 6-song EP, which hit the market less than three weeks ago, entered the Billboard Heatseekers chart at number 98 this week.

To put that into perspective, another debut this week, nine spots behind Kubinski, was "Leap of Faith" by Timothy B. Schmit, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as bassist/vocalist of The Eagles whose newest work was hyped by an article in Rolling Stone magazine in late September.

"I was beyond excited when I found out Tuesday that we charted," she said Friday. "This is something I've been working towards a long time in my music career, and while I know it may be a longer journey to the top of the charts, I'm so grateful to the fans and friends who are supporting the music, discovering it, sharing it and making it their own, and we definitely have our sights set on reaching number one."

The EP's release was celebrated with a live performance Wednesday at the Cutting Edge in New York.

Kubinski, whose singing and songwriting abilities have earned praise from industry legends like Billy Joel, last released a multi-song recording in 2012 with "Just Being Myself." However, the talented songstress has kept plenty busy during the interim: doing voiceover work, performing live, recording tunes for television shows such as "Dance Moms" and working on an autism anthem called "Not So Different" (first as a soloist, then rerecorded with John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and Mary Ramsey of 10,000 Maniacs).

"My team has been working every day to spread the music and the messages on "Onward" - that love is the ultimate healer and release, that we can forge our own destiny outside of what others say is OK for us, and that we all want love and acceptance in the end," Kubinski said. "I'm really looking forward to building our team on the live performance and radio/media side to share this music with even more music lovers."
