Former Smashburger In Enfield Available For Lease
In the past 10 months, four of the six Smashburger restaurants in Connecticut have closed their doors, with Enfield being the most recent.

ENFIELD, CT — A year ago, gourmet burgers could be enjoyed at six Smashburger restaurants across Connecticut. However, only two of those six are still in business, with the Enfield restaurant in the Stop & Shop Plaza being the latest casualty.
A spokesperson for the Denver-based corporation did not return a message seeking confirmation of the closure, but a leasing agent for Phillips Edison & Company, the plaza's management company, is advertising the Smashburger location for rent.
On March 16, during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, restaurants throughout Connecticut fell under heavy restrictions from executive orders by Gov. Ned Lamont. A sign was placed on the door stating, "Effective today 3/16 we will only be doing TOGO orders." It is unclear exactly when the franchise was closed permanently.

The Enfield location opened amid much fanfare in Jan. 2017. According to its website, Smashburger's vision is "to be the best burger restaurant for the next generation of burger lovers. Delivering this requires everything the Smashburger brand stands for: the highest quality ingredients; an exceptional "smashing" culinary technique; modern, inspired curated recipes; and menu variety that satisfies virtually all occasions and situations."
In Sept. 2019, Smashburger restaurants were operating in Enfield, Manchester, Milford, Wallingford, Southington and Waterford. Only the latter two remain.
