Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Awards Grant to The Network

The Network Against Domestic Abuse receives $12,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving

A grant of $12,000 has been awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to The Network Against Domestic Abuse in Enfield, Connecticut to support reopening costs including the addition of air purifiers for Julie’s safe house.

“At The Network, we are incredibly grateful for support from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and its commitment to ensuring that area nonprofits have the tools necessary to keep staff and clients safe during the re-opening phase of the coronavirus pandemic,” said Karen O’Connor, Executive Director.

The funds will be used to purchase air purifiers for Julie’s safe house and other designated space for group counseling sessions for survivors and their children. Due to the pandemic, weekly adult and child group therapy sessions were suspended and advocates were forced to reach out to clients in the community “virtually” for one-on-one counseling sessions. It is the hope that these purifiers will allow survivors to feel comfortable to continue with group sessions in a socially distant space. The pandemic has been a difficult time for victims of domestic abuse and these groups sessions are an effort to continue to help these families achieve a life free from abuse.
