We asked Patch readers in more than 1,000 communities to tell us what their moms mean to them. Nearly 200 people responded, paying tribute not just to moms but sometimes to grandmas, sisters and daughters who deserve recognition for Mother’s Day 2021.

Dear Mom and This will be my first Mother's Day without you and it feels strange. I love you so much and can only wish you could see how much things have changed already. You were always so excited for Spring as seeing nature around us come back to life was something to really cherish after a long winter. I hope you are able to see everyone you loved grow to be better people that you knew they'd be. You were a shining light in everyone that you met. You had something special so many people could see. I don't know if you ever realized how much people really listened to your words and how much I looked up to you. I'm grateful to have been your daughter. I always made sure to tell everyone how amazing you were and are cause I'm sure wherever you are you are still doing great things with a smile on your face.
