ENFIELD, CT — An ongoing police investigation into citizen complaints about the sale of narcotics on Francis Avenue resulted in the arrest of two men, one of whom was found to be in possession of illegal firearms and high-capacity magazines, Chief Alaric Fox said.

Detectives and community police officers (CPOs) have been working the drug case recently, and while conducting surveillance in the area, a pair of CPOs observed two apparent narcotics transaction at a house on Francis. A vehicle containing a suspect was stopped on Interstate 91 south, and a narcotics canine was brought to the scene, Fox said.

The dog hit on the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, resulting in a search and subsequent seizure of three ghost guns from the car, one of which qualified under statute as an assault weapon. Also seized were two illegal high-capacity magazines and a Glock switch, Fox said.

"It is our belief that the subjects' remaining narcotics were likely thrown from the vehicle prior to our ability to effectuate the motor vehicle stop," Fox said.
