Manslaughter Charges Filed In 2024 Double-Fatal Crash: Enfield Police
An Enfield man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with a horrific crash which resulted in the deaths of two people.

ENFIELD, CT ? A local man was arrested Monday in connection with a horrific head-on crash which resulted in the loss of two lives on Route 5 last summer.
On Aug. 23, 2024 around 1:39 p.m., the crash was reported on Enfield Street, just north of the intersection with South Road. Investigation determined a vehicle operated by Christian Andrade, 27, "was traveling at an excessive speed" and was heading southbound in the northbound travel lane. Blood results indicated Andrade had alcohol and marijuana in his system, according to a report by Officer Kevin Ragion.
A passenger in the vehicle struck by Andrade, 63-year-old Patricia Carey of Enfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Ira Anopolsky, 63, of Enfield, was taken to an area hospital and later died as a result of his injuries, Ragion said.
