Mexican Restaurant Abruptly Closes Enfield Location

A Facebook posting from the restaurant Tuesday indicated it was the site's final day.

ENFIELD, CT — Plaza Azteca, a Mexican restaurant which has operated on Route 190 in Enfield since 2014, has shut its doors, according to a post Tuesday on the restaurant's Facebook page.

"Join us today for our final day!" was the message posted to customers, as well as encouragement for patrons to visit the restaurant's Manchester and Newington locations.

As of Wednesday morning, the Enfield location's Facebook page had been pulled down.

The restaurant chain, which began in Virginia Beach in the late 1990s, opened in Enfield shortly after the 2013 closure of The Hazard Grille at 39 Hazard Avenue. Prior to The Hazard Grille, Woody's Brick Oven and Red Lobster had operated at the site.
