Evidence from the scene, and other evidence developed in the case, was later examined by the Connecticut Division of Scientific Service (Forensic Lab). The evidence connected Narducci to the crime scene, leading to submission of an arrest warrant affidavit for him, Fox said.

Several hours after the body was discovered, a number of Enfield police officers and state troopers, including several canine units, responded across the Connecticut River to the Windsor Locks Canal State Park in Suffield. A man, later identified as Narducci, was seen being led out of a wooded area in handcuffs. At the time, Lt. Willie Pedemonti said the man is "a suspect in an assault on a police officer," but provided no further details.
