Nicholas A. Duray, radar man third class in U.S. Navy, in active service during World War II. Duray served aboard an L.S.T. 776 in the Pacific Theater and received two Stars, a Victory Medal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and a Philippines Liberation Ribbon. Duray said it was "a great honor to have served landing armed tanks to shore, establishing a beach head in the battle of Iwo Jima. Gave protection from enemy planes by manning the 20 mm guns. No, freedom is not free!"He has attended many Penn State football games, including games against Navy with his cousin, Rudy Yarnott, Penn State class of 1964, who also is a Nittany Lions Club member. Said Duray: “Go Penn State!!!”
