ENFIELD, CT — For many years, the northeastern leg of a small L-shaped commercial building on Palomba Drive contained Bromage-Wilcox Insurance Agency, John Welch & Company certified public accountants and the law office of Michael Blaney. After extensive renovations, those three office suites have been combined into a sparkling new restaurant which will be opening Wednesday.

While Anthony's Restaurant, Pizzeria and Bar may be brand new, owner Dimitrios Patetsos is a familiar face to town residents, having lived in Enfield since immigrating from Greece in 1986. He worked with his sister and brother-in-law for nearly 25 years at Ann's Pizza on Raffia Road, before embarking on his own 11 years ago to open Village Green Pizza & Restaurant in Marlborough.

"My dream was always to come back to this town and open my own restaurant," he said in an interview Wednesday morning with Patch.

The first step toward opening an establishment in town was his purchase of the building, at the corner of Palomba and Cranbrook Boulevard, in the summer of 2019.

"I like being on a corner at a busy intersection," Patetsos said.

Renovation of the property, including combining the three former office suites into a kitchen, dining room and bar area, was handled by Mike DelConte of L&S Builders, who said the process took longer than expected due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"COVID-19 definitely put a damper on a lot of projects," DelConte told Patch. "Working with all the officials in town has been good. They have been good to us here, with great cooperation."

Among the striking additions visible from the road is a large deck along the north wall, with a capacity of 49 people. That complements the 95-person dining room, complete with high-backed tables inside the restaurant which provide a sense of privacy even in a crowded room.

Named after Patetsos' son, Anthony's will provide a wide variety of pizzas, including gluten-free and thin crust options. Among the specialty pies are Moussaka, chicken bacon ranch, taco, buffalo chicken, clam and vegetarian supreme. Dinner entrees include pasta, chicken, steak, eggplant and fresh seafood.

"I grew up on an island, half a mile from the sea, so I grew up on seafood," Patetsos said.

Menu items from his homeland include a Greek cheeseburger, made with onions, feta cheese and a cucumber sauce; chicken souvlaki, on a pita bread with onions, tomatoes, lettuce and a cucumber yogurt sauce; and a Greek spinach pie, consisting of phyllo dough filled with sauteed spinach and feta cheese.

Jennifer Josefiak will serve as manager, overseeing the restaurant and full bar.

Hours will be Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Online ordering will also be available.
