ENFIELD, CT — A pickup truck crashed into a mail delivery truck Thursday morning after a police pursuit on Route 5, resulting in two persons losing their lives.
The call came in at about 11:20 a.m. Police in scanner chatter said they were following the pickup on Route 5 heading north.
The truck crashed into the rear of a U.S. Mail vehicle at the Massachusetts line. An Enfield postal employee in the vehicle, Dan Nacin, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The pickup truck driver was also killed in the collision, according to Enfield police chief Alaric Fox. He was later identified as David Cersosimo, 47, of Rocky Hill.
The incident began about two miles south of the eventual crash site on Route 5, when Cersosimo was "driving erratically" through a construction zone near South Road. An officer spotted the truck heading north near Alden Avenue, and radioed she was following him. She reported several instances of Cersosimo running through red lights, according to a recording of the police radio broadcast.
Moments after police in neighboring Longmeadow were notified of the truck's imminent arrival in that town, the truck ran a red light in front of the Pride gas station and collided with the postal vehicle, which was turning left from Booth Road. The officer in pursuit requested a medic, stating, "It's bad."
