Assault, Home Invasion Charges Filed In Enfield Break-In
Following a car crash, a man broke into a house and assaulted a resident, according to Enfield police.

ENFIELD, CT — Felony charges of home invasion and first-degree assault on an elderly victim were filed late Sunday night against a Massachusetts man accused of breaking into a house on St. Thomas Street following a nearby motor vehicle crash.
Nakai Aime, 26, of Brockton, was also charged with second-degree criminal mischief following the bizarre incident, which began around 10:33 p.m. when police were called and a voice was heard screaming that "someone is trying to kill someone," police Chief Alaric Fox said.
Police discovered broken glass in front of the house and found Aime in the living room, along with a victim with a severe head laceration and a considerable amount of blood, Fox said.

Aime put his hands into the air and struggled with officers attempting to take him into custody, Fox said. As police were subduing him, another call was received from dispatchers about a crash on nearby Marshall Drive, in which a vehicle, registered to Aime, was abandoned and the driver fled on foot, Fox said.
According to the residents of the St. Thomas house, they were asleep when they heard a noise and discovered Aime in their kitchen. He pushed one of them to the floor and got on top, prompting the second resident to strike Aime with a flashlight, according to Fox. Aime got the flashlight away from the resident and repeatedly struck a victim, Fox said.

Aime smashed a small glass window to gain entry into the house through the front door, Fox said, adding Aime injured himself and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Aime will be presented in court upon completion of his medical treatment, the chief added.
