ENFIELD, CT — A recently-opened pizzeria on Route 190 which has been the subject of considerable debate on social media in the past few days is "permanently closed," according to its Facebook page.

The sign above the entrance to Roberto's Pizzeria at 304 Hazard Avenue had been removed as of Monday, as had a small "Now Open" sign which had been in the grass in front of the building.

Several Enfield-based Facebook pages have yielded considerable commentary, both pro and con, about the business in recent days. One post was by a person who claimed he had worked at the pizzeria until being recently fired, and another was a less-than-scintillating review of the restaurant by a customer.

Repeated calls to a phone number associated with the restaurant went unanswered.

Roberto's is the fourth pizza shop to have occupied the site in the last four years. Joey's Pizza was a long-standing tenant before closing in 2015. Vinny's Pizza, then Dad's Pizza opened and closed since then prior to Roberto's.
