ENFIELD, CT — For the second straight day, Enfield police and firefighters came to the aid of someone who drove a vehicle into a place of business. Unlike Wednesday's crash involving a van into the Friendly's restaurant, Thursday's crash involved a vehicle driven into the side of a former manufacturing company which has been closed for many years.

At 5:22 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the former McLaughlin Paper Co. at 281 Enfield St., where a car had smashed about halfway into the building. A woman operating the vehicle was taken to an area hospital with injuries which were not believed to be significant, Sgt. Dennis Pelletier said.

A building inspector was called to the scene to assess the damage, Pelletier said.
