Top 10 Highest Paid CEOs in Connecticut
One CEO's pay was more than $30 million, according to the AFL-CIO's 2014 Executive PayWatch.
The average chief executive at a publicly traded Connecticut company earns just over $6 million annually – 123 times the $48,852 salary paid earned by the average worker in the state.
That's according to AFL-CIO’s 2014 Executive PayWatch, which tracks the most recent salaries available for S&P 500 Index companies.
Nationally, the highest paid chief executives are Lawrence J. Ellison of Oracle Corp. and Elon Musk of Telsa Motors Inc., who were paid $78,440,657 and $78,150,010, respectively.
Topping the Connecticut list is William R. Berkley, who earned $31,296,780 in 2012 as the CEO of Greenwich-based Berkley (W R) Corp. That number makes him the 24th highest paid CEO in the U.S. — and it's 888 times the national average worker's pay, according to the database.
