ENFIELD, CT — Administrators of the Enfield Dog Park are asking members of the public to refrain from taking wood chips from the large pile adjacent to the park.

The chips, located on the south end of the parking lot on Ecology Drive, are strictly for use within the park, according to vice president Gregg Pugliese.

"We were just notified that people have been coming in and helping themselves to our wood chips at the park," Pugliese said. "These are not for the public to use and they do not belong to the transfer station. They are Dog Park property. The transfer station has its own pile for people to use."

The dog park, which opened in 2011, is not run or funded by the town, but instead by a group of dedicated volunteers which relies on donations and members' own pockets to meet expenses.

Anyone who witnesses chips being taken from the park is asked to call the Enfield Police Department at 860-763-6400.
