Chick-fil-A Franchise Owner: Restaurant Welcomes 'Everyone'

The owner of the new Glastonbury Chick-fil-A stressed a welcome mat philosophy Monday.

GLASTONBURY, CT — The owner of the new Glastonbury Chick-fil-A said any past impression that the chicken chain does not throw out a red carpet to all — and a message on a close-by sign — are a stretch locally.

Said Jordan Snook the franchise owner/operator of the Chick-fil-A, “We are excited to open in Glastonbury and look forward to being great neighbors who welcome everyone. Glastonbury will be representative of all Chick-fil-A restaurants in serving great food and providing remarkable service for all customers, as well as a diverse workplace of individuals who represent many viewpoints, opinions, backgrounds and beliefs.”

The Chick-Fil-A is slated to open Thursday at 2941 Main St.

A sign at the McDonald’s 2915 Main St., said, “We welcome everyone.”

Chick-fil-A's founding family has been criticized for supporting groups with any-inclusion messages but Snook said everyone is welcome in Glastonbury.

The Cathy family also maintains Chick-fil-A's original policy of being closed on Sundays for "a day of rest."

When asked by the Hartford Courant about any subliminal messages from the sign, Susan Lefleur, the general manager of the Glastonbury McDonald’s, said the message was simply "cute."
