Toddler, Mother Injured In Drive-By Shooting In Glastonbury: PD

A mother and her 1-year-old son were taken to the hospital after the shooting, which occurred in a hotel parking lot.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A mother and her 1-year-old son were injured in a drive-by shooting in the parking lot of Homewood Suites, 65 Glastonbury Blvd., Tuesday morning in Glastonbury, according to police. The shooting was reported shortly after 10 a.m., police said.

The 23-year-old woman and her son were in the rear parking lot of the hotel when a large dark-colored SUV approached. There were at least two men in the SUV and one of the occupants fired a shot in the direction of the victims, according to police.

The woman and her son were taken to local hospitals where they were treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to police. The victims are Hartford residents who were visiting guests of the hotel when the shooting occurred, police said.

“Our investigation leads us to believe this was not a random act, but instead a targeted assault on someone who was in the area at the time, therefore we don’t believe there is an ongoing threat to the Glastonbury public,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The GPD Investigations Unit is actively investigating and diligently working to identify those responsible for this callous act resulting in injuries to a woman and child.”
