College Accomplishments By Glastonbury Students

GLASTONBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Becker College, Worcester MA

• Charles Sacco, of Glastonbury, was named to the Becker College Dean's List for the fall 2019 semester. Sacco is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computer Science. The Dean's List recognizes all full-time students (24 or more credit hours earned for the academic year; 12 minimum each semester - September through May) whose term grade point average is 3.50 or higher with no grade below a B- and no incomplete (I) or withdrawal/failing (WF) grades.

Hamilton College, Clinton NY

• Four Glastonbury residents were named to the Dean's List at Hamilton College for the 2019 fall semester. They are, with year, major and high school: Carter Briglia, sophomore, Glastonbury; Katherine Gagnon, junior, economics and government, Glastonbury; Kristin Hughes, senior, chemistry, Glastonbury; and Cameron Morosky, sophomore, Loomis Chaffee School. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must have carried throughout the semester a course load of four or more graded credits with an average of 3.5 or above.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY

• Following a December in which he excelled in two meets, RPI student-athlete Mark Shapiro of Glastonbury and University High School of Science and Engineering has been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC). Shapiro, a senior who was named the Division III Field Athlete of the Month, had top three finishes in each of the four events in which he competed. At Smith, he was first of 12 in the weight throw with a distance of 17.00 meters (4th attempt) and second of 13 in the shot put with a throw of 13.23 meters (5th attempt). He was .32 from winning the weight throw. The following week at Utica, the mathematics major was second of 22 in the weight with a distance of 16.26 meters (5th attempt) and third of 18 in the shot with a throw of 12.74 meters (3rd attempt). Shapiro was .01 from second place in the shot and .64 from winning the weight. He was the Liberty League Track Performer of the Week after his performance.

University of Connecticut, Storrs CT
