Glastonbury High School Teams with Chamber for 'Shark Tank'

Chamber members volunteer to mentor students and assist them to conceptualize their inventions and new business ideas

The CT River Valley Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Glastonbury High School Entrepreneurship class hosted a Shark Tank for its seventh 'season.' Chamber members volunteer to mentor students and assist them to conceptualize their inventions and new business ideas. The class, developed by Mary Brandt-White, a Business Teacher at Glastonbury High School, requires students to develop a business plan, create a logo an participate in the live, judged, Shark Tank event.

Each student or student team develops their idea with a CT River Valley Chamber member mentor, many of which own or work within Glastonbury, East Hartford & Marlborough businesses. Elevator pitches are presented to a panel of judges with evaluation criteria based on: intro/hook, need/opportunity, target market, competitive advantage, wrap up, and delivery.

The Fall 2019 Shark Tank winner is Manav Mittal, with "Flight Investments,” a business to assist individuals with under $100,000 annual income to invest. His mentor was Eric Judge of Edward Jones Investments. Other pitches included Flipoculars, MacAttack and The Mighty Mango.
